Abstract

Religious guidance constitutes an essential component of Indonesia's correctional system in fostering inmates' moral awareness, spiritual transformation, and readiness for social reintegration. However, studies on Hindu Religious Guidance within Correctional Institutions remain limited, particularly those examining inmates' lived experiences and the internalization of Hindu values. This study aims to analyze the meanings constructed through Hindu Religious Guidance, examine the internalization of Tri Kaya Parisudha values, and explore the resulting social and spiritual dynamics among Hindu inmates at Class IIB Singaraja Correctional Institution, Bali. This study employed a qualitative approach with an ethnographic perspective. Informants were purposively selected and included correctional administrators, Hindu religious counselors, correctional officers, and Hindu inmates. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and SaldaƱa. The findings indicate that Hindu Religious Guidance serves not only as a religious activity but also as a process of spiritual transformation that strengthens inmates' ways of thinking, communication patterns, behavior, social relationships, and life orientation in preparation for social reintegration. The internalization of Tri Kaya Parisudha provides the ethical foundation for these changes by encouraging self-reflection, moral responsibility, and constructive interaction with others. The study proposes a conceptual model of Tri Kaya Parisudha-based Hindu Religious Guidance to strengthen inmates' spiritual development and support successful social reintegration.
