Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve older adults’ and caregivers’ initial knowledge and practical skills through a community-based Resilient Elderly Movement in Pelamunan Village, Kramatwatu, Serang, Banten. The activity involved 50 participants, consisting of 30 older adults, 12  family caregivers, and 8 community cadres. The program used a participatory method through needs assessment, health education, elderly exercise, simple nutrition education, deep breathing relaxation, caregiver emergency response simulation, and reflective discussion. Evaluation used a 10-item knowledge questionnaire, practice observation sheets, and structured discussion notes. The observed results showed that participants could explain key messages on healthy activity, mental health self-care, warning signs in older adults, and initial household emergency response. Caregivers were also able to practice safer response steps during simulation. The program offers an initial community model that requires cadre follow-up and primary care collaboration for longer-term impact.
