Abstract

The workload of administrative staff in hospitals is a crucial factor influencing the smooth delivery of healthcare services. These staff members are responsible for tasks such as record-keeping, data entry, document verification, filing, and patient administrative services; consequently, they face workloads shaped by physical, mental, and time-related demands. This study aimed to determine the impact of physical, mental, and time-related workloads on the overall workload of administrative staff at the Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital in Riau Province. The study employed an analytical quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. A total of 37 respondents were selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses, including simple linear regression. The results indicated that physical workload had a significant effect on the administrative staff's workload (significance value: 0.010), as did mental workload (significance value: 0.036) and time-related workload (significance value: 0.014).The research results indicate that physical workload significantly affects the workload of administrative staff (significance value of 0.010), mental workload significantly affects the workload of administrative staff (significance value of 0.036), and temporal workload significantly affects the workload of administrative staff (significance value of 0.014). Thus, each workload variable namely physical workload, mental workload, and temporal workloadis proven to have a significant impact on the workload of administrative staff at the Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital, Riau Province. It is recommended that the hospital conduct periodic workload evaluations to ensure that task allocation is effective, proportional, and aligned with the staff's work capacity.
