Abstract

Neck pain is a common musculoskeletal condition among adolescents and can be influenced by prolonged sitting, gadget use, and poor posture during study activities. A lack of knowledge about proper posture and preventive measures can also increase the risk of neck pain among students. This activity aims to improve students’ knowledge of neck pain through education and occupational safety and health (K3) physical therapy counseling, as well as the provision of stretching and strengthening exercises. The activity was conducted with students at Madrasah Aliyah Putri Ma’arif Ponorogo, East Java. The method used was health counseling, which included material on the definition of neck pain, risk factors, ergonomic posture, and neck stretching and strengthening exercises. Knowledge assessment was conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires before and after the educational session. The results of the activity showed an increase in students’ knowledge regarding neck pain, its causes, and prevention methods following the education and counseling. Thus, occupational health and safety (K3) physical therapy education and counseling, through the provision of educational materials and stretching and strengthening exercises, can enhance students’ knowledge in efforts to prevent neck pain.
