Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach integrated with interactive Edpuzzle media in improving elementary school students’ understanding of Aqidah Akhlak concepts. This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design involving 50 students, with 25 students in the experimental class and 25 in the control class. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, N-Gain, Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, and simple linear regression. The experimental class improved from a mean pretest score of 53.84 to 87.67, whereas the control class improved from 52.67 to 65.66. The N-Gain of the experimental class was 73% (moderately effective), compared with 26% (low) in the control class. The Wilcoxon test indicated a significant pretest-posttest difference (p < .001). The Mann-Whitney test also indicated a significant difference between the two groups (p < .001); based on the reported mean ranks, the effect size was approximately r = .85, indicating a large effect. Simple linear regression produced R = .878 and R² = .771, indicating that 77.1% of the variance in conceptual understanding was associated with the treatment variable. The findings indicate that integrating CTL with Edpuzzle can provide a more contextual, interactive, and meaningful learning experience for Aqidah Akhlak in elementary school.
