Abstract

ABSTRACT  Divorce cases are one of the high-volume types of civil cases that require data management not only from an administrative perspective but also from an analytical one. Data from the Case Tracking System (SIPP) can potentially be used to identify patterns in case resolution more objectively. This study aims to classify the duration of divorce case resolution at the Bitung District Court into three categories—fast, moderate, and slow—using the Decision Tree and Random Forest algorithms. The dataset comprises 824 cases from the 2021–2025 period that have undergone data cleaning, selection, labeling, and feature transformation. Duration labels were determined using a quartile approach, with a Q1 threshold of 37 days and a Q3 threshold of 76 days. The features used include the number of trial days, the status of the judgment, as well as the month, day of the week, and quarter of case filing. The data was split in an 80:20 ratio using the stratified split method and subsequently evaluated based on accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, confusion matrix, and cross-validation. The results show that the Tuned Random Forest model performed best with an accuracy of 70.30%, precision of 0.7084, recall of 0.7030, and an F1 score of 0.6934, outperforming the Decision Tree model, which achieved an accuracy of 59.39% and an F1 score of 0.5954. The model with the best performance was then implemented into a Streamlit-based prediction dashboard. These results indicate that the Tuned Random Forest offers a more reliable approach for classifying the duration of divorce cases based on SIPP administrative data.
