Chicken is one of the most sought-after livestock commodities in Indonesia. However, it hasn’t been optimally implemented due to the high price of feed and chicken stocks that still depend on imports. One solution is to find an alternative feed (coffee husk) and cultivate hybrid chickens, for example Golden Kamper from Gama Ayam Research Team. Coffee is a popular trading commodity in Indonesia. However, the use of coffee husk is still not optimal. Coffee husk contains crude protein in the range of 11% and will increase if fermented. Therefore, coffee husk has the potential to be an alternative feed for chickens. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fermented coffee husk feed on body weight and cGH (Chicken Growth Hormone) gene expression in F6 Golden Kamper chickens and to determine the effectiveness and potential of coffee husk as an alternative feed for chickens. The study was conducted by making coffee skin fermentation with EM4, making feed composition, raising DOC at the starter point (three weeks old), collecting chicken weight data, and analyzing of gene expression. The results showed that the fermentation process was able to reduce the crude fiber content in coffee husk by up to 12%. Feeding with 10% coffee husk gave better results than the 20%. Meanwhile, the results of body weight and carcass in chickens were not significantly different in the two treatments. Gene expression analysis showed that feeding with 10% coffee husk treatment resulted in a gene expression level twice as high as 20%. The correlation test showed no correlation between chicken weight and cGH gene expression levels.
