Abstract

Women who act as heads of households face multiple pressures in maintaining household life, including economic burdens, heavy family responsibilities, unpleasant experiences, emotional strain, limited time, and social demands. These pressures affect their psychological condition, yet most of them continue to fulfil their family responsibilities. This study aims to describe the psychosocial resilience of women heads of households in facing the pressures of household life in Kelurahan Pauwo, Kecamatan Kabila. The study used a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving seventeen women heads of households as key informants, supported by village officials and community figures. Data were analysed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, and validated through triangulation. The results show that psychosocial resilience appears in two dimensions: the psychological dimension, reflected in emotional regulation, stress management, recovery from traumatic experience, self-concept, and hope for a better future; and the social dimension, reflected in social interaction, social relations, self-adjustment, and continued participation in community activities. Despite limited economic conditions, the informants demonstrated the capacity to survive, adapt, and maintain their social functioning as heads of households.
