Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires long-term treatment and monitoring to keep blood sugar levels under control. One of the factors that greatly influences the success of treatment is the patient's adherence to medication. If the patient is non-compliant, blood sugar levels can become difficult to control, and the risk of complications increases. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of medication adherence and fasting blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSUD Cipayung East Jakarta during the period of March–April 2026. This study uses an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 85 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. Compliance data were obtained through the ProMAS questionnaire, while fasting blood sugar data were obtained from patient medical records. Data analysis used the Spearman's rho test. The research results show that the majority of respondents were female, totaling 54 people (63.5%), and male, totaling 31 people (36.5%). The highest level of medication adherence was in the moderate-high category, with 49 respondents (57.6%), while the highest fasting blood sugar levels were in the uncontrolled category, with 52 respondents (61.2%). The statistical test results showed a p-value of 0.464 with a correlation coefficient of 0.080. The conclusion of this study is that there is no significant relationship between the level of medication adherence and fasting blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSUD Cipayung East Jakarta.
