Abstract

This study aims to implement the Game-based Total Physical Response (TPR) method to enhance English vocabulary acquisition among primary school students. To achieve this objective, the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method was employed to examine the efficacy of TPR implementation at SDN 22 Air Salek, Banyuasin, Sumatra Selatan, Indonesia. Grounded in this practical methodology and its epistemological framework, the findings demonstrate that the utilisation of TPR is capable of significantly enhancing vocabulary acquisition among primary school students. However, within this context, TPR must be supported by supplementary media and alternative pedagogical methods, such as flashcards and game-based learning, coupled with explicit and precise instructions. The application of this integrated approach ultimately resulted in 95% of the students achieving a comprehensive understanding of both the meaning and context of the target vocabulary. These outcomes offer valuable theoretical and practical contributions, asserting that the application of TPR must be underpinned by complementary methodologies and engaging visual media to drive pedagogical success.
