Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the internalization of the Love-Based Curriculum (Kurikulum Berbasis Cinta/KBC) in Arabic speaking skill or maharah kalam through dialogue and open communication at SD IT Luqman Padang, Indonesia. This descriptive qualitative research involved two Arabic language teachers and 24 Grade V students. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings indicate that the implementation of CINTA values (Compassion, Interaction, Nurturing, Trust, and Appreciation) through open dialogue was reflected in a safe, supportive, and humanistic learning environment. Teachers and students perceived these practices as supporting students’ courage to speak, self-confidence, empathy, and willingness to communicate in Arabic. The CINTA values were integrated into maharah kalam activities, suggesting that Arabic language learning can support not only linguistic development but also character building and socio-emotional growth. These findings highlight the potential of the Love-Based Curriculum and open dialogue to support humanistic and character-based maharah kalam instruction at the elementary school level, while further research larger and more diverse samples is needed to assess its applicability across different educational contexts.
