Abstract

This survey research aims to analyze the effects of financial literacy, financial technology, risk tolerance, and herding behavior on stock investment decisions among Generation Z in Surakarta City. A quantitative approach was employed using primary data collected through questionnaire distribution. The study population comprised Generation Z individuals in Surakarta City, with the exact population size being unknown. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling technique based on the criteria of being at least 17 years old and possessing an investment account, yielding a sample size of 96 respondents. The research instrument was evaluated through validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination (R2). The findings reveal that financial literacy, financial technology, and risk tolerance partially have a significant effect on stock investment decisions. Conversely, herding behavior does not exert a significant effect on stock investment decisions. The F-test yielded an F-statistic of 22.279 (p < 0.05), indicating that the regression model is fit and suitable for predicting investment decisions. The Adjusted R2 value of 0.506 demonstrates that financial literacy, financial technology, risk tolerance, and herding behavior collectively account for 50.6% of the variance in Generation Z's stock investment decisions, while the remaining portion is influenced by factors beyond the model.
