Abstract

Background: Degenerative diseases are among the common health problems experienced by the elderly. Misconceptions about these diseases may affect their understanding and health-related behaviors. Aim: To analyze the factors associated with misconceptions about degenerative diseases among the elderly in Yeh Kuning Village, Jembrana, including age, education, occupation, economic status, disease experience, health information sources, and family support. Method: This study used a quantitative analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 66 elderly respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through univariate and bivariate analyses using the Chi-Square test. Results: Among the 66 elderly respondents, 55 (83.3%) had a high level of misconceptions, while 11 (16.7%) had a low level. The analysis showed significant associations between all factors studied and misconceptions about degenerative diseases (p<0.001). Conclusion: There were significant associations between the factors studied and misconceptions about degenerative diseases among the elderly.
