Abstract

General Background: Fostering healthy peer relationships is a fundamental developmental objective in secondary school counseling frameworks. Specific Background: Excessive digital device usage has diminished face-to-face communication, causing high school students to struggle with perspective-taking, collaboration, and behavioral self-regulation. Knowledge Gap: Despite growing concerns over adolescent social isolation, there is a scarcity of structured, game-based guidance tools grounded in sociological interaction theories. Aims: This study aimed to develop and evaluate the "Social Path Tower of Self Challenge" board game as a valid and practical counseling medium. Results: Using the 4D research and development model, expert evaluations demonstrated high validity—with media ratings increasing from 75% to 83.33% and material ratings rising from 79.1% to 81.2%—while practicality assessments yielded positive evaluations of 92.5% from counselors and 92.1% from students. Novelty: The medium uniquely integrates George Herbert Mead's symbolic interactionism framework into five distinct board game zones to cultivate experiential social learning. Implications: The findings demonstrate that structured interactive board games offer school counselors a scalable and engaging alternative to conventional lecture-based group guidance.
