Abstract

Offerings in the life of the church are not merely about material giving; they also reflect the faith, grace, thanksgiving, and responsibility of believers. This study aims to analyze the theology of offerings based on the thought of Martin Luther and its relevance to church life, specifically within the *Huria Kristen Batak Protestan* (HKBP). The study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing library research and a normative-theological perspective. Data sources include relevant biblical texts, the works of Martin Luther, theological books, journal articles, previous studies, and ecclesiastical documents. Data were collected through document studies and literature reviews, then analyzed using a descriptive-interpretative method involving source selection, contextual interpretation, comparative analysis of ideas, and synthesis. The findings indicate that, according to Martin Luther, offerings are not a means to obtain salvation or God's favor, but rather the fruit of faith born of justification by grace. Offerings are rooted in Christian freedom and expressed through thanksgiving, self-surrender, love, and service to others. In the context of the HKBP, this understanding serves as the theological foundation for the practice of offerings—emphasizing voluntariness, responsibility, transparency, accountability, and social concern
