Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the role of the village government in poverty alleviation in Bonto Salama Village, West Sinjai District, Sinjai Regency. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation related to the implementation of poverty alleviation programs in Bonto Salama Village. The role of the village government was analyzed using four indicators: regulator, facilitator, dynamizer, and catalyst. The results show that the Bonto Salama Village Government has carried out its role in poverty alleviation. As a regulator, the village government establishes rules and policies through Village Head Regulations, allocates budgets through the Village Budget (APBDes), and determines Beneficiary Families through Village Deliberations. As a facilitator, the village government provides various forms of assistance to the community, including Direct Cash Assistance (BLT), rehabilitation of uninhabitable houses, assistance with business equipment and community groups, as well as assistance in the agricultural, livestock, and fisheries sectors. The village government also assists the community in accessing the Family Hope Program (PKH) and Social Welfare Direct Cash Assistance (BLT Kesra). As a dynamizer, the village government conducts various training and community empowerment activities, including women's empowerment, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) training, agricultural, livestock, and fisheries training, rice pest control, the utilization of home gardens, and the production of organic fertilizers and pesticides. Meanwhile, as a catalyst, the village government coordinates with the Social Affairs Office and village facilitators, including updating data through the SIKS-NG application and implementing social assistance programs. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Bonto Salama Village Government has played an important role in poverty alleviation through program regulation, provision of assistance, community empowerment, and coordination with various stakeholders. These four roles complement one another in helping communities meet their basic needs and improve their economic capacity. However, further strengthening is needed in evaluating the impact of poverty alleviation programs, particularly in measuring improvements in the income, independence, and welfare of assistance recipients on a sustainable basis.
