Abstract

This study aimed to formulate and evaluate a nanoemulgel containing ethanol extract of Pometia pinnata leaf as a topical antioxidant preparation. The extract was obtained through maceration using 96% ethanol, then formulated into a nanoemulsion and incorporated into a gel base containing Carbopol 940 at concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, and 2%. The evaluations included organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, viscosity, physical stability, and antioxidant activity, using the DPPH method with IC₅₀ as the parameter. The results showed that all formulations met acceptable physical criteria.  The pH values ranged from 4.86 to 5.49, while the spreadability ranged from 4.81 to 5.95 cm. The best formulation was the nanoemulgel containing 2% Carbopol, which showed an IC₅₀ value of 88.78 ppm, indicating strong antioxidant activity. These findings suggest that the Pometia pinnata ethanolic leaf extract nanoemulgel has promising potential as a topical antioxidant formulation for preventing premature skin aging.
