Abstract

Drug trafficking remains a serious challenge for Indonesia’s correctional system, particularly due to the high recidivism rate among female inmates. The Class IIA Pekanbaru Women’s Correctional Institution has implemented rehabilitation programs to address addiction and support social reintegration. However, their effectiveness needs evaluation, particularly in reducing relapse rates. Drug rehabilitation programs in correctional institutions are essential for helping inmates overcome addiction and improve their quality of life. This study analyzes the effectiveness of the drug rehabilitation program at the Pekanbaru Women’s Correctional Institution. The research method used a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with inmates and correctional officers, as well as through rehabilitation program documents. The results indicate that the drug rehabilitation program at the Pekanbaru Women’s Correctional Institution has several weaknesses, such as a lack of resources, inadequate training for officers, and a lack of family support. However, the program also has several strengths, such as counseling, group therapy, and religious activities. This study recommends that the drug rehabilitation program at the Pekanbaru Women’s Correctional Institution needs to be improved by increasing resources, training for officers, and family support.
