Abstract

This study was driven by the limited comprehension of locomotor movement principles among elementary school students and the sub-optimal application of game-based learning models within Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK). This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) model integrated with physical activities in enhancing the understanding of locomotor movement concepts among third-grade students at SDN Kalicari 02. The study adopted a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a One Shot Case Study design. The research focus embraced all 25 third-grade students of SD Negeri Kalicari 02, consisting of 14 male and 11 female students. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data were collected through performance evaluations, observation sheets of student activeness, as well as student response questionnaires. Data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the One Sample T-Test. The findings revealed that the implementation of the TGFU model rooted in physical activities was effective in improving students' understanding of locomotor movement concepts. The One Sample T-Test showed a significance value of 0.004 (Sig. 2-tailed < 0.05), along with a mean mark of 75, fulfilling the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). In addition, the learner feedback reflected exceptionally favorable reactions, with an average satisfaction percentage of 92.8%. Therefore, the activity-centered Teaching Games For Understanding framework serves as a potent substitute strategy for PJOK learning in elementary schools.
