Abstract

Cognitive decline is a significant health issue among the elderly, characterized by diminished memory and concentration, which can reduce their quality of life. This community service activity aimed to increase the knowledge of the elderly and nursing home administrators regarding the importance of cognitive stimulation through "guess the object" modality therapy. The methods used included health education, demonstrations, and direct practice with 8 elderly residents at Wisma Nusa Indah, PPRSLU Budi Sejahtera Banjarbaru. The results of the activity showed that after the intervention, the elderly were better able to recognize and mention the names and functions of objects. Furthermore, there was an increase in enthusiasm and active participation from the participants. The conclusion of this service is that "guess the object" modality therapy is an effective and simple non-pharmacological stimulation to maintain cognitive function in the elderly.
