Abstract

The improper use of antibiotics can lead to bacterial resistance, resulting in therapy failure. This study aimed to determine the level of knowledge of outpatients regarding the use of the antibiotic amoxicillin at Puskesmas Bojongloa. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with an accidental sampling technique. The sample size was 91 respondents. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire consisting of 10 questions regarding the use of the antibiotic amoxicillin. Data were analyzed descriptively in the form of percentages and categorized as good, fair, or poor. The results showed that the majority of respondents' knowledge levels fell into the poor category (35 respondents; 38.5%), followed by the fair category (31 respondents; 34.0%), and the good category (25 respondents; 27.5%). This study concludes that the level of knowledge of outpatients regarding the use of the antibiotic amoxicillin remains relatively poor, indicating a need for increased education on the appropriate use of antibiotics.
