Abstract

This study evaluates the compressive strength of polymer concrete modified with Styrene Monomer (SM) and Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS). Using 54 cube samples (5x5x5 cm) with varying SM (0%, 3.75%, 11.25%) and GGBFS (0%-40%), testing was conducted at 28 days of age. Results show that Run A2B3 (11.25% SM and 20% GGBFS) achieved the highest compressive strength of 100.91 MPa. In contrast, samples without SM reached a maximum of 99.93 MPa. SM significantly improves mechanical performance and elasticity, enabling better load distribution. However, GGBFS levels above 20% reduced workability due to high viscosity. These findings suggest that an optimal SM-GGBFS combination yields high-strength, durable polymer concrete for advanced structural applications.
