Abstract

This study examines the process of reproducing ecological knowledge through inclusive education at Al-Muttaqin Ibru Islamic Boarding School, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. Using a qualitative approach with a case study type, this study analyzes how pesantren function as a social arena (field) where the production and distribution of ecological knowledge takes place involving various internal and external actors. The theoretical framework used is Pierre Bourdieu's sociology of knowledge, especially on the concepts of habitus, field, and capital, to understand the dynamics of knowledge reproduction in the context of community-based religious education. The results of the study show that the Al-Muttaqin Ibru Islamic Boarding School reproduces ecological knowledge not through verbal and hierarchical transmission. However, through direct practice, habituation, and exemplary in agricultural activities, livestock, fisheries, as well as waste management and organic compost production. Inclusive education in this pesantren is not interpreted narrowly as the acceptance of people with disabilities. This pesantren adheres to epistemic inclusivity that opens access to knowledge and participation for all students without discrimination in academic, social, or physical abilities. Collaboration with external institutions such as Bank Indonesia, the Job Training Center, and POLDA Jambi expands the space for ecological knowledge production while encouraging the change of students' cultural and social capital into sustainable economic capital. This research contributes to the development of an ecologically-based inclusive education model in Islamic educational institutions, while emphasizing that pesantren have the potential to be an agent of knowledge reproduction that is inclusive, equitable, and relevant to contemporary socio-ecological challenges.
