Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of shallot extract concentration and soaking time on the growth of pepper cuttings. The study was conducted in Tapporang Village, Batulappa District, Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi Province, from April to July 2025. This study was conducted as a two-factorial experiment arranged in a randomized block design. The first factor was the shallot extract concentration, consisting of three levels: 0 %, 50 %, and 75 %. The second factor was the soaking time, consisting of three levels: 3 hours, 6 hours, and 9 hours. There were nine treatment combinations with three replications, resulting in a total of 81 experimental units. The results showed that no shallot extract concentration treatment had a significant effect on the growth of pepper cuttings. No shallot extract soaking time treatment had a significant effect on the growth of pepper cuttings. The combination of 50 % shallot extract and a 3-hour soaking time tended to produce better pepper cutting growth, with an average plant height of 53.33 cm, 8.33 leaves, 8 shoots, 33.00 cm root length, and 6 ml root volume.
