Abstract

Beyond serving as a guide and compass for humanity, the Qur’an also acts as an intercessor for those who recite it. The recitation of Qur’anic verses is a widespread tradition within Muslim communities, often observed as a consistent, regular practice. This article examines the tradition of reciting Surah Al-Kahfi at PPTQ An Nisa’ Surabaya—a practice gaining popularity in the community, driven by the spiritual benefits (*fadhilah*) associated with specific chapters like Al-Kahfi. The author employs the "Living Qur’an" methodology to understand how this routine is performed and the beliefs held by the participants regarding it. Through this research, the author identifies the reasons for participating in the Al-Kahfi recitation routine, the manner in which it is carried out, and the experiences of those who consistently maintain this practice at PPTQ An Nisa’ Surabaya.

Abstract

This study investigates the concept and mention of the word meaning Mother in the Quran with thematic interpretation studies. Thematic interpretation has the advantage of comprehensively revealing terms and discourses in the Quran. This research is based on library research that relies on the term Mother in the Qur'an, by collecting all the verses that connote the meaning of Mother, namely the word al-umm, al-walidah which is found in the mention of 39 times. A simple question, how to know the characteristics of the mother in the perspective of thematic tafsir . The figure of the mother has always been an interesting thing to study because of her very noble status. The Quran as a holy book also provides a complete explanation of the figure, the privileges of a mother. Based on the discussion conducted, the factors that support the virtue of a mother arise from the role of mothers who directly have physical contact with children so as to create a strong emotional connection between mother and child. In addition, several stories of mothers in the Qur'an such as the story of Moses' mother and Maryam's mother also support the virtues that arise from a mother. The Qur'an describes it with the mother's inner instinct of worry and anxiety when a child is separated from his mother and also the hope of salvation for the soul of the child and his offspring through the mustajab prayer of a mother.
