Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum at SD GMIH LOC Pulau Morotai aims to enhance learning flexibility that is student-centered and relevant to contemporary challenges. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, involving interviews, observations, and document analysis to understand curriculum implementation. The findings indicate that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at this school is still carried out gradually, focusing on grades 3, 5, and 6. The main challenges include limited facilities, a lack of teaching materials, and insufficient teacher training. Nevertheless, the project-based learning approach applied in this curriculum has successfully increased student motivation, creativity, and engagement in the learning process. Teachers are also given the freedom to develop more innovative teaching methods by utilizing local learning resources. The curriculum implementation strategies include observations, experience-sharing among teachers, and collaboration with other schools. In conclusion, despite the challenges in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, the project-based approach and integration of local wisdom have proven effective in improving the quality of learning and preparing students with 21st-century skills that are more relevant and adaptive.
