Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between parenting styles and student motivation in elementary schools. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, using structured interviews as the data collection technique. The study involved seven respondents, consisting of two parents, three students, and one class teacher. The findings indicate that parenting styles significantly influence children's learning motivation. Both democratic parenting, which provides freedom with supervision, and authoritarian parenting, which emphasizes control, can enhance students' motivation to learn, albeit through different approaches. Parents who are actively involved in supporting their children's learning, both emotionally and by managing the learning environment, play an important role in motivating their children to study. In addition to parenting styles, other factors such as the school environment, the quality of teachers, students' physical and mental health, and engaging teaching methods also impact students' motivation to learn. Gender differences in motivation were also observed, with female students generally exhibiting higher motivation to learn. These findings highlight the crucial role of parents in creating conditions that support the development of children's learning motivation. This study is expected to provide valuable insights for educators and parents in improving the quality of education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between single-parent families and students' learning motivation, particularly in the context of SMP Kristen Daruba. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to understand the dynamics of single-parent family relationships and their influence on students' learning motivation through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The respondents consist of two students, a single mother, and a homeroom teacher. The findings indicate that single-parent families influence students' learning motivation through various aspects, such as parental involvement, emotional support, and the psychological condition of the students. Children from single-parent families often face emotional and financial challenges that affect their concentration on learning. However, consistent parental attention, albeit limited, can encourage students to remain motivated in their studies. Moreover, support from teachers and the school environment plays a crucial role in helping students overcome the obstacles they face. Factors supporting students' learning motivation in single-parent families include parental attention to their children's education, aspirations to achieve their goals, and social support from teachers and peers. Conversely, inhibiting factors include economic limitations, limited time, and a lack of communication between parents and children. The study concludes that active involvement of single parents and strong social support can enhance students' learning motivation. It recommends further research to explore the role of educational and social interventions in supporting children from single-parent families.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation and impact of the School Level Curriculum (KTSP), Curriculum 2013 (K-13), and Independent Curriculum at Muhammadiyah 1 Elementary School, Morotai Island, and to analyze the differences and similarities between the three curricula in the context of elementary school learning. The approach used in this study is qualitative with data collection techniques through structured interviews. Respondents in this study consisted of the Principal and homeroom teachers of grades 3 to 5. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key themes related to the implementation of the curriculum and its impact on the quality of learning. The results of the study show that each curriculum has its advantages and disadvantages. KTSP focuses more on structured learning with the dominant role of teachers, while K-13 emphasizes student activity and a thematic approach. The Independent Curriculum provides more freedom for students to develop their interests and talents, but still faces challenges in terms of time and facilities. Overall, the effectiveness of the three curricula is highly dependent on the role of teachers in optimizing the learning process and how the curriculum is implemented in the field. This study provides useful insights for policy makers and education practitioners in understanding the implementation of the curriculum in elementary schools.
