Learning based on local wisdom is very important in creating a generation that is not only academically intelligent, but also has an understanding and appreciation for local culture and traditions. Teachers play a very strategic role in developing this learning. The aim of this research is that teachers can develop learning in each subject that is integrated with local wisdom, so that students can easily understand existing cultures. This research uses qualitative research with a case study approach. The subjects are homeroom teachers and school principals. Data was collected by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research are that the role of teachers in developing local wisdom-based learning is very large. Apart from functioning as teachers, teachers are also facilitators, motivators and role models for students in understanding and preserving local culture. Integrating local wisdom into the learning process, teachers not only provide academic knowledge, but also shape students' characters who respect and love their culture Teachers also have challenges in teaching local wisdom-based learning, namely the teacher's lack of understanding and knowledge about local wisdom in their area, so it is important for teachers to receive training or provision about local wisdom so that they can more effectively teach cultural values and traditions to students. The next challenge is limited resources and facilities. Many schools on Morotai Island, which are located in border areas, do not have adequate access to resources that can be used for local culture-based learning.
