Abstract

This study aims to synthesize ferrite (Fe₂O₃) nanoparticles using the green synthesis method based on cermai leaves extract (Phyllanthus acidus) and analyze its functional group, morphology, element composition, and electrical properties. The synthesis process is carried out with calcination temperature variations of 500 °C, 600 °C, and 700 °C. FTIR characterization shows the formation of Fe–O bonds as well as reduced organic residues as calcination temperatures increase. SEM results show an almost spherical particle morphology with a tendency to increase grain size and agglomeration at higher temperatures. EDX analysis confirmed that the material is composed of elements Fe and O without significant impurities, with compositions closest to stoichiometry Fe₂O₃ obtained at intermediate calcination temperatures. Electrical properties tests show that an increase in calcination temperature leads to an increase in the dielectric constant and a decrease in resistivity, which is related to grain growth and an increase in the regularity of the crystal structure. The results of this study show that cermai leaf extract has the potential to be a green synthesis agent in producing Fe₂O₃ nanoparticles with good electrical properties and environmentally friendly.
