Abstract

This study examines the role of school supervisors in improving the quality of teaching and learning, particularly Islamic Religious Education (IRE), in elementary schools. Supervisors are no longer limited to monitoring and evaluating teachers but are also expected to provide guidance, assistance, and professional support to teachers and school principals. This study employed a literature review method by examining relevant books, academic journals, and educational policy documents. The findings indicate that effective supervision requires supervisors to possess mentoring skills, collaborate with teachers, and utilize technology to support innovative, contextual, and meaningful learning. Appropriate supervision can contribute to improving teacher professionalism, the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning, and students’ religious character. The study also highlights the importance of continuous training for school supervisors and strong support from the government and educational institutions.
