Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) instruction at MTs Annihayah Rawamerta, Karawang, employing a descriptive qualitative approach involving interviews and direct observation. The results indicate that SKI instruction remains dominated by the lecture method; while effective for narrative-based content, this approach risks causing student boredom. The students' *pesantren* (Islamic boarding school) backgrounds serve as a distinct advantage, facilitating their comprehension of the material. Instructional media, such as educational videos and history cards, have been utilized only to a limited extent. Through a SWOT analysis, the study identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with SKI instruction and formulates innovation strategies, specifically, the implementation of active learning methods such as cooperative learning, project-based learning, storytelling, and the integration of digital technology. These findings align with recommendations from recent studies on Islamic education advocating for more varied, student-centered approaches to teaching SKI.
