Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of entrepreneurial motivation consisting of need for achievement (X₁), independence and autonomy (X₂), income expectations (X₃), and self-efficacy and innovation (X₄) on interest in becoming young entrepreneurs (Y) among students of the Entrepreneurship Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Islamic University of North Sumatra. The population consisted of 51 students, all of whom were used as samples (total sampling). Data collection used a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used multiple linear regression with SPSS v.25. The results showed: (1) need for achievement has a positive and significant effect (t=4.425); (2) independence and autonomy have a positive and significant effect (t=4.095); (3) income expectations have a positive and significant effect with the most dominant influence (t=6.255); (4) self-efficacy and innovation have a positive and significant effect (t=5.125); (5) simultaneously all four variables have a significant effect (F=13.021) with a contribution of 49.20%. These findings indicate that holistic strengthening of entrepreneurial motivation is very important in shaping students' interest in becoming young entrepreneurs in the digital era.
