Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) Spatial Distribution Patterns of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sungai Beliung Village, Pontianak City, (2) Characteristics of MSMEs in the area, and (3) Management efforts undertaken by business actors. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach assisted by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through spatial analysis using Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN), as well as data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the analysis show that the spatial distribution pattern of MSMEs is clustered with a T value = 0.032108, z-score = -10.14, and p-value = 0.000000 which indicates a non-random distribution pattern and is statistically significant. MSMEs in Sungai Beliung Village tend to be concentrated in areas with high accessibility such as main roads, markets, and densely populated areas. The majority of MSMEs operate in the informal sector with a family-based work system and are managed directly by the owner. The main challenges faced include rising raw material prices, limited capital, and high market competition. Despite this, MSMEs are able to survive through product innovation and adaptation to consumer needs. This study concludes that MSMEs play a crucial role in supporting the local economy and have the potential to grow with support from access to capital, training, and sustainable digitalization.
