Abstract

In the 21st century, the teaching and learning process can be done digitally through online learning. During the COVID-19 pandemic, online learning became mandatory in Indonesia, especially in higher education. This article aimed at analyzing Indonesia’s higher students’ perceptions towards online learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The data in this article were collected and analyzed through the library research model proposed by George. The data sources were collected from various journals by considering six criteria. Thirty-two articles related to students' perception of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic were collected and analyzed by reading, understanding, and grouping the students' perceptions. The results found four positive perceptions towards online learning: flexibility, availability of learning material, motivation, and variations of online platforms. The significant advantage which was felt by the higher education students towards online learning was its flexibility. Online learning made the students able to learn at any time and anywhere. The negative perceptions towards online learning were related to internet access, unstable internet connection, lack of interaction, ineffective instruction, and health issues. The significant disadvantages caused by online learning were internet connection and signal strength. An unstable internet connection and signal strength made the students feel uncomfortable while learning through online learning.
