Abstract

This study examines the pattern of social media usage among Guidance and Counseling Students of Jambi University, batches of 2021, 2022, and 2023. With a sample of 94 respondents selected through Stratified Random Sampling, this study used a questionnaire as the main instrument and was analyzed descriptively. The results show that the level of social media usage of students is in the high category (76.19%), with aspects of supervision (83.66%) and personal relationships (81.86%) as the dominant factors. Students use social media to monitor academic information and maintain social interactions, but also face the risk of addiction, phubbing, and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), which can have an impact on mental and academic well-being. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve digital literacy and manage the use of social media wisely.
