Abstract

This study aimed to develop the “Jelajah Kediri” flipbook as a local-wisdom-based learning medium for non-fiction text instruction in Grade V elementary school and to determine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research employed Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects were 23 Grade V students of SDN Jambean 1, with 8 students involved in a limited trial and 15 students in a wider trial. Data were collected through material and media expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results showed that the flipbook was valid, practical, and effective. Material expert validation reached 84% (valid), while media expert validation reached 92% (very valid). The practicality test produced an average score of 91.5% (very practical). Classical learning mastery reached 100% in the limited trial and 86.7% in the wider trial. The novelty lies in integrating non-fiction text learning with Kediri local wisdom, including history, tourism, culture, and local culinary heritage. The developed media provides a contextual and interactive learning experience while supporting students’ reading literacy and awareness of local culture.
