Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine students’ perceptions of the implementation of the “Merdeka Belajar” curriculum in physical education, sports, and health (PJOK) classes at IKAL Private Junior High School in Medan. The method used in this study was a survey. The population consisted of students from three grade levels: 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. The sample comprised 25 students from 7th grade, 17 students from 8th grade, and 24 students from 9th grade. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The variable in this study was students’ perceptions of the implementation of the “Merdeka Belajar” curriculum in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) classes at IKAL Private Junior High School in Medan. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results of the study, conducted by distributing questionnaires to the sample at IKAL Private Junior High School in Medan, yielded a total score of 5,490, representing 83%, with the category “very good.” These results were obtained from the distribution of questionnaires to three grade levels at IKAL Private Junior High School in Medan, consisting of 7th grade with a sample size of 25 students (81%) rated “excellent,” 8th grade with a sample size of 17 students (84%) rated “excellent,” and 9th grade with a sample size of 24 students (84%) rated “excellent.” Therefore, it can be concluded that students’ perceptions of the implementation of the “Merdeka Belajar” curriculum in physical education, sports, and health (PJOK) classes at IKAL Private Junior High School in Medan fall into the “very good” category.
