Abstract

This study aims to examine the perceptions of physical education and health teachers regarding the Merdeka Curriculum in high schools throughout Simalungun Regency for the 2024/2025 academic year. In this study, “perception” is defined as teachers’ views on the Merdeka Curriculum, which is currently the national curriculum in Indonesia. This is a quantitative descriptive study using a survey method. The study population consists of Physical Education and Health teachers in Simalungun. The sampling technique employed in this study was simple random sampling, with a total sample size of 36 Physical Education and Health teachers. Data collection in this study utilized a questionnaire with variables on perception and the Merdeka Curriculum, measured using a Likert scale. The results of the analysis revealed that, overall, the perceptions of Physical Education and Health teachers toward the Merdeka Curriculum in high schools across Simalungun Regency for the 2024/2025 academic year fall into the moderate or fairly good category, with 0% (0) teachers had a very low perception, 52.8% (19 teachers) had a low perception, 19.4% (7 teachers) had a moderate perception, 11.1% (4 teachers) had a high perception, and 16.70% (6 teachers) had a very high perception.
