Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the social environment on juvenile brawling behavior in South Tangerang City. The research employed a quantitative approach with a causal-associative design involving 100 adolescents aged 15–19 years selected using Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics, simple linear regression, partial t-test, comparative analysis, and coefficient of determination with IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The findings revealed that the social environment has a positive and significant effect on juvenile brawling behavior, as indicated by a regression coefficient of 0.809 and a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.155 indicates that the social environment explains 15.5% of the variation in juvenile brawling behavior, while the remaining 84.5% is influenced by other factors outside the research model. Family supervision, peer influence, school environment, community conditions, and digital media exposure were identified as important determinants. These findings emphasize the need for integrated preventive strategies involving families, schools, communities, and local governments to strengthen social control and reduce juvenile delinquency through collaborative and sustainable interventions.
