Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF CONSISTENT RULE ENFORCEMENT AND PERCEPTIONS OF FAIRNESS ON THE COMPLIANCE LEVEL OF STUDENTS AT MANBA'UTH THOYYIBAH ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL, SRAGEN Student (santri) compliance with disciplinary rules is an important indicator of successful character formation in Islamic boarding schools, yet is often shaped by the consistency of rule enforcement and students' perception of fairness. This study aims to determine the effect of Rule Enforcement Consistency and Equality Perception on the Level of Student Compliance at Pondok Pesantren Manba'uth Thoyyibah Sragen, both partially and simultaneously. A quantitative causal-associative design was applied to 131 students from grades VIII-IX (junior level) and all grades of the senior level, selected through proportionate stratified random sampling from a target population of 195 students using the Slovin formula (5% margin of error). Data were collected using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression, computed manually in Microsoft Excel as an alternative to SPSS. The results indicate that: (1) Rule Enforcement Consistency has a positive and significant effect on Student Compliance (F=11.487; Sig.=0.001; R²=0.082); (2) Equality Perception has a positive and significant effect on Student Compliance (F=5.712; Sig.=0.018; R²=0.042); and (3) both variables simultaneously have a significant effect on Student Compliance (F=5.802; Sig.=0.004; R²=0.083; Adjusted R²=0.069), with Rule Enforcement Consistency as the dominant contributor (Effective Contribution 7.35%) compared to Equality Perception (0.97%). Although all three hypotheses were accepted, the contribution of both independent variables was relatively small, while 92.3% of respondents fell into the low-to-very-low compliance category, indicating the need for further research incorporating other factors such as value internalization, religiosity, and coaching patterns.
