Abstract

This study examines the effect of e-book media on students’ reading interest in Islamic Religious Education learning at Madrasah Aliyah Ikhwanul Muslimin Tembung. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consisted of 34 students from Grades X, XI, and XII, all of whom were selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires measuring e-book media and students’ reading interest. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 22.0 through validity, reliability, normality, linearity, t-test, and coefficient of determination tests. The results showed that all 17 items for each variable were valid, with the calculated correlation coefficients exceeding the critical value of 0.339. The instruments were also reliable, with Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.726 for e-book media and 0.762 for reading interest. The data were normally distributed and demonstrated a linear relationship. Hypothesis testing indicated a positive and significant effect of e-book media on students’ reading interest, with t = 6.113 and significance = 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.539, indicating that e-book media explained 53.9% of the variance in students’ reading interest. These findings demonstrate the potential of e-book media to strengthen students’ reading interest in Islamic Religious Education learning.
