Abstract

Street Lighting (Public Street Lighting/PJU) planning plays a vital role in improving road safety, security, and comfort, particularly in developing residential areas. This study aims to analyze the street lighting requirements and develop an appropriate Public Street Lighting (PJU) plan for Suka Maju Indah Village to achieve effective, energy-efficient, and standard-compliant illumination. The research employed a field survey to evaluate the existing road lighting conditions, measure road dimensions, identify available lighting facilities, and calculate lighting requirements based on SNI 7391:2008 and the recommendations of the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE). The analysis focused on key parameters, including illuminance level, pole spacing, mounting height, lamp power, and electrical energy consumption. The results indicate that the existing street lighting system in Suka Maju Indah Village does not fully satisfy the recommended lighting standards due to uneven light distribution and insufficient illuminance on several road sections. The proposed design, utilizing high-efficiency LED luminaires with optimized pole spacing and appropriate mounting heights, significantly improves lighting performance while reducing energy consumption compared to conventional lighting systems. The proposed Public Street Lighting (PJU) system is expected to enhance traffic safety, minimize the risk of nighttime accidents and criminal activities, and reduce long-term operational costs through improved energy efficiency. The findings of this study provide practical guidance for local governments and residential developers in designing sustainable and technically compliant street lighting systems.

Abstract

The abstract should be written as a the three-phase induction motor in a block ice factory compressor has a high starting current, which can cause voltage drops and disruptions in the electrical power system. This study aims to analyze the starting current of the compressor motor using the Star-Delta method with the aid of ETAP software. The research method involved collecting technical data on the motor, transformer, and electrical distribution system, followed by conducting Motor Acceleration Analysis simulations in ETAP. The results show that the Star-Delta method is able to reduce the starting current compared to the Direct On Line (DOL) method, resulting in more stable system voltage and reduced disruptions in the distribution network. Furthermore, switching from a Star to Delta connection results in momentary current surges that remain within safe limits according to electrical power system standards. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of the Star-Delta method in improving the reliability of the electrical system in a block ice factory.

Abstract

Electrical cables are one of the main components in electrical power distribution systems, functioning as a medium for conducting electric current. In their application, cables often experience bending conditions due to improper installation that does not comply with standards, which can affect their thermal and mechanical characteristics. This study aims to analyze the effect of cable temperature and electric current magnitude on the bending characteristics of NYM 2×1.5 mm² and NYMHY 2×2.5 mm² electrical cables. The research method used was an experimental method with current variations of 0.9 A, 1.1 A, 1.4 A, and 5 A, as well as bending angle variations of 0°, 15°, 60°, and 90°. Measurements were carried out using a digital thermometer and clamp meter over a certain time interval. The results showed that an increase in electric current caused a significant rise in cable temperature. Bending at smaller angles produced higher heat concentration compared to bending at larger angles. The highest temperature was obtained at a current of 5 A with a bending angle of 0°, reaching 25.6°C. This temperature increase affected the flexibility and insulation durability of the cable. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the combination of high current and small bending angles accelerates cable quality degradation and increases the risk of insulation damage.
