<![CDATA[This study aims to analyze the role of village governments in the implementation of regional autonomy and to identify the challenges faced in managing development and community empowerment in East Lombok Regency. The background of this research is based on the strategic position of villages as the frontline in implementing regional autonomy, as regulated in Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. This research employs a normative legal method using both statutory and conceptual approaches. The legal materials consist of primary legal sources, such as legislation, and secondary sources, including relevant literature and scientific journals. The results indicate that village governments play a significant role in the implementation of regional autonomy, particularly in development planning, village financial management, and community empowerment. However, these roles have not been optimally carried out. Several challenges hinder effective implementation, including limited human resources among village officials, lack of transparency in budget management, low levels of community participation, and weak administrative and supervisory systems. These issues contribute to the suboptimal realization of regional autonomy objectives at the village level. Therefore, efforts are needed to enhance the capacity of village officials, strengthen transparency and accountability principles, and increase community participation to achieve effective and good governance at the village level in supporting regional autonomy.
