Abstract

Exogamous marriages bring together couples from different cultural backgrounds, which can influence role division, decision-making, and conflict resolution in domestic life. This study aims to analyze the implementation of gender equality in exogamous marriages in Palangka Raya City. This study used a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Primary data were obtained through interviews with five married couples in exogamous marriages, while secondary data were obtained through literature review. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the division of roles in the family is still dominated by the husband as the primary breadwinner and the wife as the person responsible for domestic work, although some couples implement a more flexible role division according to family needs. Decision-making is generally carried out through deliberation, while cultural differences are addressed through communication, adjustment, and peaceful conflict resolution. The research findings indicate that the implementation of gender equality in exogamous marriages is not always realized through equal role division, but through cooperation, mutual respect, open communication, and mutual agreement in running a household.
