Abstract

This research develops a wearable system based on the MPU6050 sensor to monitor infant sleep position as a form of preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), which is strongly linked to the prone sleep position. The system utilizes Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) technology to detect body orientation through accelerometers and gyroscopes. The method used is descriptive quantitative thru tool design, system programming, sensor calibration, and testing against three main parameters: tilt angle accuracy, alarm activation time, and buzzer response. The research results show that the sensor is able to read angles with an average error of 3.8%, which is still below the standard limit of 5%. The alarm system shows an average response time of 0.82 seconds, while the buzzer has an average sound duration of 0.20 seconds with a stable sound. Overall, these findings indicate that the MPU6050-based wearable system functions accurately and responsively, and has the potential to be used as an aid for monitoring infant sleep position.
