Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea affects 54.89% of Indonesian adolescents and remains a significant health problem because it interferes with daily activities. At MAN 2 Banjar, UKS data from January to August 2025 showed that 39.8% of female student visits were related to menstrual pain. This study aimed to determine the relationship between fast food consumption, nutritional status, physical activity, and menstrual duration with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among female students at MAN 2 Banjar. This analytical observational study employed a cross-sectional design involving 99 tenth- and eleventh-grade female students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using interviews, questionnaires, and anthropometric measurements, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 62.6% of respondents experienced primary dysmenorrhea, while 50.5% rarely consumed fast food, 60.6% had normal nutritional status, 62.6% engaged in light physical activity, and 54.5% had abnormal menstrual duration. Significant relationships were found between fast food consumption (ρ = 0.027), nutritional status (ρ = 0.002), physical activity (ρ = 0.000), menstrual duration (ρ = 0.010), and primary dysmenorrhea. Improving healthy eating habits, maintaining normal nutritional status, increasing physical activity, and monitoring menstrual health are recommended to reduce the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea.
