Abstract

The nutritional status of children under two years of age is influenced by various factors, including maternal knowledge, complementary feeding (CF) practices, and parenting practices. Inappropriate complementary feeding practices and inadequate parenting may affect children's growth and development. This study aimed to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge, complementary feeding practices, and parenting practices and the nutritional status of children aged 6–24 months in the working area of UPTD Bumiwonorejo Public Health Center. This study employed a quantitative research design with an analytical observational approach using a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 93 mothers with children aged 6–24 months. A total of 93 respondents were selected using the total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between maternal knowledge and the nutritional status of children under two years of age (p = 0.416), and no significant relationship between complementary feeding practices and the nutritional status of children under two years of age (p = 0.096). In contrast, there was a significant relationship between parenting practices and the nutritional status of children under two years of age (p = 0.012). There was no significant relationship between maternal knowledge and complementary feeding practices and the nutritional status of children under two years of age. However, parenting practices were significantly associated with the nutritional status of children aged 6–24 months in the working area of UPTD Bumiwonorejo Public Health Center.
