Abstract

Libraries in the contemporary era have undergone significant functional changes. Previously known as storage spaces for book collections and individual reading activities, libraries have now evolved into public spaces that support social interaction, creativity, education, and community activities. This transformation is influenced by the development of digital technology, changes in people's lifestyles, and the need for more flexible and inclusive shared spaces. This study aims to analyze the change in the function of library spaces into public spaces through a qualitative descriptive approach. The results show that the transformation of library spaces creates new experiences for visitors by providing discussion areas, coworking spaces, community spaces, recreation areas, and digital creative spaces. These changes make libraries not only places to read, but also centers of social activity and a third home.
