<![CDATA[This study analyzes the gatekeeping process in the production of the news item “Festival Tabut Bengkulu 2026 Akan Digelar Meriah” at KompasTV Bengkulu and examines the conformity of the final news product with the Indonesian Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Broadcast Program Standards. The study applied a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, newsroom observation, and documentation. The informants included the bureau chief and producer, a journalist, an editor of KompasTV Bengkulu, and a monitoring analyst from KPID Bengkulu. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that gatekeeping operates through five interconnected levels. At the individual level, editorial decisions are shaped by the division of roles among journalist, producer, and editor. At the media routines level, production proceeds through projection meetings, field reporting, script writing, visual short listing, voice over, editing, and double checking. At the organizational level, a two-tier coordination mechanism connects the Bengkulu bureau and the central editorial office. At the social institutions level, the public, social media, and local government serve as information sources without determining the final substance of the news. At the social system level, cultural proximity, journalistic ethics, and broadcasting standards guide the selection and presentation of news. The final news product was considered broadcast-worthy and compliant with broadcasting standards based on KPID Bengkulu validation.]]>
