Abstract

Improving educational quality in madrasahs is determined not only by the availability of resources but also by the ability of madrasa principals to initiate, manage, and sustain innovation. This study aims to analyze the leadership innovations implemented by the Madrasa principal to improve educational quality at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Mambaul Ulum, Jambi City. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data was collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, involving the Madrasa principal and teachers as the primary sources of information. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that leadership innovation was implemented through the development of students’ academic and non-academic achievements, tahfidz programs, extracurricular activities, teacher professional development, improvement of learning devices, academic supervision, optimization of educational facilities, and partnerships with parents and the community. The findings demonstrate that leadership innovation in the madrasah operates as a continuous quality improvement cycle that integrates managerial and pedagogical dimensions, human resource development, madrasa culture, and Islamic values.
